Havok integration
We've got some basic things working in Havok such as basic objects [boxes..] that can fly around, and character controllers that let you move around in the world, jump and fly (when we make it work) and that, mainly thanks to Benny.
So please stay tuned for progress reports, as the real fun begins for us programmers infact now is the best time you can apply for a programmer position, so I ask all of you to contact programmers you know (if they're very good) & ask if they can help us.
This is still very early in game production, but since we are using the absolute best physics engine with XNA, there's a lot of potential. Hence, right now our code is at its simplest & is easier to understand. We'll also soon be releasing our source code for our Havok components, so that others can benefit from our project (while we continue to develop them). Isn't that nice of us?

Re: Havok integration
I look forward to when we'll be able to connect to each other in the program and jump around as sasuke or naruto's .
(edit)
I dont think it should go to far into physics for the mmo. I mean it would be cool to have the physics that alot of single player games have but for an mmo i dont think it should be to important. For the people that want it as realistic as possible, try to name afew good mmos that have clothes physics or object physics like pushing a barrel over etc.
If its got alot of content, playability, with good scenery thats good enough for me. Look at WoW for an example, not much different then other mmos and its #1 giant.

Re: Havok integration
well, not the clothing part... but it is true that there is no mmorpg ever made with world physics simply becuz for every model that moves, the server has to memorize its new location and rotation and that would just be way too heavy , well, its a challenge ;D

Re: Havok integration
That's one of the problems I'm going to solve. It's what I do best
We'll get some technical discussion underway soon. Then industry experts and MVPs can contribute

Re: Havok integration
Physics for clutter objects wouldn't really serve a purpose and just lag the game =/
Maybe for some more important objects, but if you do an attack that knows like 50 things around with physics then people playing would need a damn good comp

That's the point of using the physics engine used for commercial games. You just need a ~1.5Ghz dual core processor and a decent graphics card capable of shader model 3.0 (they're becoming even cheaper now..) to run the game. With multithreading (this is where us l33t coders come in) we can achieve very good performance (look for Havok on Youtube) with lots of detail that current MMOs lack.
Re: Havok integration
Shader model 3.0? Is that the same thing as Pixel Shader 2.0? Because I tried to play a game and I couldn't because I needed Pixel Shader 2.0.....So are they the same? (Plz say no -.-)

Not sure..if that's the case, you don't have Shader model 3.0 either
But these days (and you can't play yet anyway) Shader model 3 cards are quite cheap at ~$80
So save up
Re: Havok integration
Wow....I could cry right now...Well hopefully I'll have a new comp by the time testing starts...hopefully

In all seriousness, would you rather the game's quality suffered or, you had to buy a
Re: Havok integration
Yea...I actually started to beg for lower quality...But that would be selfish, pointless, and kinda stupid lol. I should have a job before the game is done...unless you guys just go on a rampage and get it done within the year o.O . But thx for the response.
