Okay so you have your 4 man cell. (or 3 if one leaves the game for instance)

There will be planty of things to do, engineered around the team style of gameplay. This is a new concept in online gaming, thought of by me Razz

Well to start off, you could arrange when to go online with your teammates (or just when you won't be on..)

And you can:

- Carry out missions when you like (maybe limit them for each team, say max. is 5 a day)

- Train against team members (2v2, 1v1, 2v1) Very Happy

- Train against other village teams

- Look for random quests to do in the village; some people may approach you, or some may need to be talked to (for better rewards ?)

- Explore your country or other countries for secret items, fights and other things

- PvP anywhere, including if players from another village manage to infiltrate your village

If you're on your own you can obviously train on your own, or maybe form a temporary team with other village ninja without teammates online, to carry out a mission.

When your village recieves intelligence that another village is planning an attack for instance, your team may be assigned to lay in wait and ambush them. It will be the Hokage's (and panel of advisors') responsibility to strategically place the player teams [give them a target location, through different possible attack routes], and it's up to the teams whether they plan to hide themselves effectively or go out in the open Uzumaki Naruto style.

If you go out to another country you'll probably also have NPCs on guard or waiting to ambush. You'll also have other players doing the same thing Razz

wow, thats a great idea, and very original. That way people can train for a few minuites for casual people, or alternativly for 10 hours a pop for hardcore players.
And it promotes social activitys which many games ignore. It's genious Smile

And to Raiden, its not really a party system, because the teams are permanant as i see it. (Although you can form a party with others temporaraly)
So it's more teambased than parties really.

Depends what you mean by mmo language Razz

In what I described above, you'd be able to have more than one 4-man cell in your 'party' at times. This though would be only on special occasions (maybe village attacks happen once every 2 weeks or something, that could allow you to work in multiple teams) - because the anime promotes teamwork and adapting to your teammates' skills to use them effectively.

Thanks Very Happy I'm really glad you think so. It will definately allow flexibility where it's needed as you say, but we need to add more to this. I think if we get more Naruto fans on here we can come up with a great game Razz

Yeah very nice. It will make the game much less repetative. You won't be doing the same thing all day everyday. This also works with the Kages, they could assign you (if you're alone) to a team that fits you (that has one member that's not on, also they would see if you actually could be used for good and not bad here), that needs to go on a mission of importance. The kage can talk to you by a message which pops up and that is noticeable (not only for this situation but so you don't have to always check in, the kages message will pop up right when you get into your home village).

Team Based Gameplay: A New Genre of MMO Empty Friendless...

Post  Rev54 Wed Sep 17, 2008 7:42 am

So are some missions going to be solo, and others you need a team to do?

I think that some misssions you could perform on your own, they would be small missions that give little experience, but help improve your character, or there assassin style and give a lot of experience and require stealth.

But what about missions that require 3 or 4 people, and what about those of us who may not have friends to play this game with! What about making help characters, (i got this idea from playing GW so sorry im not original) but say that you have bots that you can ask to join your group and they will help you carry out missions, and regradles of if there a higher level than you or not, they will follow you.

and besides being in a clan, you'll be able to group up with who ever you want right?

i like the idea (personally)
but some people like to play alone or just hate the annoying players in MMOs, so they would hate that gameplay unless you make it optional to be team based or solo based gameplay,
or just solo but with the option to join groups and leave (like in other MMOs)

Yea, so are you discussing party system here or what?

And also, this is optional to be part of the team? It is not necessary right?
------

And also we should have lots of diffrent ways of training. Not just plaver vs player. Or friendly sparing...
Like training against mobs, and on logs, and by trowing shuriken, running on water, climbing mountains, on players.

And by Pvp do you mean Pk or Pvp?

I have really elaborate idea of 1 dtraining, like for each damage u do u get certain amount of exp

so if like 1 damage=4 exp
on players.
if u hit a 100 u get 400 exp, if u hit a 1000 u get 4000 exp.
This would apply for taijutsu damage, and ninjutsu damage...

But if u camp and train on logs u would get 0.5 exp per damage, so if u hit 1000 u would only get 250exp. But you while training on logs or something you would not have to worry about dieing in combat and u would constantly be doing damage rather than on players where you miss some hits, and take time to find oponent.

Anyways

swordman, we are going to try and avoid using logs as in dummies like in certain mmorpgs which makes them just bad. also usualy they are used in games where grinding is the base thing, and u need to grind for weeks to reach anything, i do like the dmg to EXP thing, cuz in some games, u get EXP when the monster dies and u get "KSed" constantly, so this is best way to do it Smile

also still about EXP, we should share the XP amount between the party members although we should increase, to make ppl party, like (XP/4)+((2*XP)/5)

Also @ topic :
Social is rly the most important thing in games, there are mmorpgs where its like u'r playin alone / grinding, get bored in NO TIME ! but when there's intraction between players and they need eachother and there are such high amount of diffrent quests to do , it would make the game just awesome and ppl will simply never get bored.

if we could go a step further, we could create a system that makes players who leave teh village (missing ninja's) Quests! as in : you can go that quest place thing, and be able to get a quest regarding the missing ninja, hunt him and get money Very Happy

doing so in teams is obviously awesomer, cuz he might also have backup and so on and so on ^^

I know, solraize already told me that over and over again lol.

But i still think it would be optional! You would get much much much lesss exp, but that training method should be optional.... anyways later on ill make a seperate thread on training, exp,party... explaining the way i see it and how it could work.
