I wasn't too sure where to put this so I figured... hell why not RIGHT here. So here it goes. There is always the problem with money when it comes to games. Big companies spend millions and millions of dollars just developing a game. We don't have millions of dollars... hell... we don't have thousands, let alone hundreds. Which is why this topic was created... we want to know YOUR ideas to help US make money for YOUR playing experience. We had a talk and one of the team Sorlaize suggested perhaps we make everyone pay $2 a month to play (of course this is without all the legal jargon, whether we can do this or cannot at this moment doesn't really matter as this is just discussion on this matter). So I spoke up and said "not everyone has a credit card, debit card, bank account and it's not easy to get these things when you are a certain age. Kids could get their parents to pay for it but yet again some parents are cheap and sometimes it will cost them an arm and a leg just to pay for it." Also, it's a huge turnoff, and the amount doesn't matter, it's the fact that somepeople just DON'T want to pay... can you blame them really? I don't. So help us out. Let's discuss!

Yes there's some very good points there. (btw its fun how I can edit your post so easily)

I thought of charging every player a very small amount, each month. So if we have 100 000 players (a fairly reasonable target Razz ), that's more than enough for server maintenance costs (which has been a big issue) and also software licenses. It will be taking advantage of the huge number of players we'll have.

And, $2 isn't much to ask is it? Anyone can afford it, or if you're a hikikimori (doesn't go outside his room) you can get a family member to pay just like they do for your other online games. And if you can't get a credit or debit card you can probably just get someone else to pay for you anyway...

You do have a good point. Also, when it comes down to it we'll still have the forums and people that are here... some of you guys know me from Naruto Izou/Naruto Online/Naruto Raivu on BYOND and know that im a nice guy. And I am sure we could definitely work something out so I would be able to help you if you don't have a credit card (if we plan and legally can do this) or don't know anyone who does.

(Yes it's quite crazy. I was thinking about giving you credit for that but thought maybe he just might want to not be mentioned xD.)

Shinija do you not have that kind of money? Razz

It's half of what TV ads ask you to donate to charity. So it's probable that someone else could pay for you out of kindness. Maybe you can ask for a more spread-out Birthday present? Razz

Or maybe we could go with the other idea. But that would mean Shinija now can't get the special items that cost real money. Personally I don't think that's very fair; think about it considering all the Naruto fans out there. Would they want it like most other games, or would they want everything fair for a minimal payment? Are they comfortable with paying for things? Smile

Of course if we take my idea we could experiment with giving long trial periods or making it optional to pay, but then there's the risk of not having enough money to cover servers/software.

Shinija is a great example of what I was talking about Sorlaize. Some people won't want to pay at all. We will still have a big fan base, but not as big as we would going free. As I said though. We could have special clothing... like maybe have Akatsuki cloaks that you have to buy off the online store for like $2 or something cheap like that, even though alot of people would be around in them so obviously we wouldn't go that wide spread of an item lol. It was an example though. Nothing AMAZING on the store, but somethings that are good and a little better than others or just more physically appealing.

But guys the problem is that our game will be known by players (a player that tells to another friend about our game...), some people wouldnt like the idea to ask there parents money every months. It might not catch the attention of everyone.

Am I missing something? I don't think $2 for every (rare) item purchase would work Razz

It was an example Sorlaize xD. Anywho, I don't know if it's a good idea to make them pay, the verdict is still out on that one. I am sure we would have paypal if we did this. Of course we would also have money coming in from things like 'google ads' on the website, which I have been half ass lazily coding lol. No clue when it will be up but when it is you will know. Do we have any fresh ideas?

So true sakuke lol.

What I meant is that it would have to load the video wouldn't it? Still wouldn't take longer than 30 seconds. This could be a solution to some of the money problems.

No question we'll need income for the servers to hold the game up. I think if we want any form of phsyics in an mmo we will defiantly need a monthly cost because it will take more bandwidth to run all those extra things being thrown, moved, etc instead of having them static-unmovable and projectiles just being animated but not using any physics.

Now, we could have a typical monthly payment of $10 like most popular mmo's or we can have it lower with an item shop ingame that u can buy with real money though im sorta against them it is an option.

That way people that dont want to pay as much will only have to pay half of what they needed, and the people that do will probably use the item shop will help pay for the people that dont want to.

Example- Everyone $10 or everyone $5 and some people use item shop to bring that $5 to more like a $10 per person average income since some people can throw alot more money around then others and would help pay for the people that cant or dont want to.

Yea that's kind of like a merge of pricing strategies we already discussed Razz

I suggested $2 for everyone per month and then everything inside the game becomes free. One thing we can't do is have one-off payments though.

Regarding load times, we'll need to make the game run with as little delay from running the application as possible. So you don't get put off from playing it by long loading times. Multithreading is already being considered since some people are buying quad-core CPUs (q6600 anyone?) when about the only thing that would utilize that is Crysis. Also you'll need Shader Model 3.0 and up (gfx card compatibility list to be added to notices soon)

Hmm i think if multi-threading will help I think it should be used. I dont have a quad-core but i do have a new dual-core processor and i think alot of other people will be switching over to the new dual-cores soon or quad-cores.

Server is payed for and problems solved... i know Sorlaize says less delay but it could spare the cost of the user could even leavew a little message so the user knows
