Re: Handseals Idea
I forgot but was the programmer making the code in XNA for the 360 or for PC-both? The problem with imputing handseals ingame is, with a macro program, i could hit F12 and have the jutsu down in 1 second. If its on the 360 then it would on buttons/trigger buttons which is different.

Yea that would be better! Pressing a button like F6 and then it does the jutsu by itself.

Xbox 360 compatibility isn't very likely...it depends on the security restrictions Microsoft has in place. Everything we are using at the moment is technically compatible with the Xbox 360. But for example we use c++ libraries separate from the main program. I'm not sure that XNA allows this on the Xbox 360.
However if we can do this then we will...but don't get your hopes up. From what I know it costs a lot of money to get games on Xbox Live too.
Re: Handseals Idea
lets use morse code xD, like pressing X button twice - stop - twice again, and depending the jutsu, the longer the morse code, but that would suck clickin a button all the time

taijutsu
So how is tiajutsu going to work?
I知 assuming that this game will be like a WoW or GW where you click on the
icon and it performs the move. And for Taijutsu, you will get up close and
click an icon that will perform the characters legs or arms to kick or punch in
a particular pattern. And I知 assuming that when using taijutsu that it won稚
spend any of your chakra. But what about complicated moves like the Leaf
Hurricane. I知 assuming the stronger you get (or higher level) the better moves
you can pull off. So you would have to be close to your opponent to pull these
moves off.
But what if, and this is just a stretch, and I mean an idea I maybe haven't
thought all the way through yet, but say we use buttons to pull off our punches
and kicks. You see my idea would be for a mmo that you can use a game
controller for. I've played Naruto Rise of a Ninja for the Xbox360 and the
games sub-par but I partially liked the control scheme. Where you had to hold
one button down to and then move the joysticks together in a set pattern to
perform your hand signs. And in that time when you make hand signs you can't
attack but you can get hit and your hand signs become null and void. So what if
instead of just clicking an icon, we use (example..) the number pad as our
buttons for using taijutsu and making hand signs. Say we use the buttons
w,a,s,d to move and use 1,2,4,5,3,6 for fighting 1 being left kick, 2 right
kick, 4 left punch and 5 right punch and 3 low block, 6 high block . This way
you don't have to sit around and wait, for when you池e a low level just
starting you値l have wait, maybe 3 moves you can do, and after you use all 3
you'll have to wait for them to recharge. I think that if we use the buttons
for a basic fighting style, the game play will always seem fast past because you値l
all ways have to attack and defend yourself. Then, as you train, you can learn
combo moves. (Example 1445 I think yall knows what I知 trying to say.
As for using the keypad for hand signs, I think that you could hold down a
button, for this example I shall use the letter M. So say you want to perform
your hand signs to cast your jutsu, you would have to hold M and press 1256. You
would have to press the numbers in the correct order, and this way the harder
the justsu the number combination. This would also allow for other things, such
as copying Justus, if you have the sharingan, you would have only a matter of
seconds to push the same pattern of numbers your oppenent did. And to break it
down a little more, I did some research and there are 12 hand signs if I知 not
mistaken (http://www.leafninja.com/hands.php) so i think that you would have to
do 2 numbers for every sign (one for each hand) so you could pair numbers off
and what not and design a straight 12 number combination (12, 45 78 89 56 23 are
some examples)
That was just a thought I had and I have seem to all of a sudden lose
concentration on what I was talking about and a few other ideas with the number
pad have just slipped out of my mind.
So what do you think, its just an idea. Im no programer so I don't know how
hard it would be to do something like that instead of just clicking an icon

thats just what i though, i was thinking that we could have number combos to pull of as hand signs e.g. 545497, jsut try it on the number pad and its not that hard to memorize or how about e.g. 316497, 8462, 97318246, 03164982, 49761643, 813974652, 1154687, 9494657, 849562 etc. try those on your key pad, they are basically patters of press.

Re: Handseals Idea
It should also be where you can customize the number sequences to something you can remember easily. It would eliminate the problem where one sequence is simpler than another. Just in case you haven't thought about that lol...
Re: Handseals Idea
no thats the whole point! if you set it up some weaker jutsu is an easy pattern and strong jutsu is a long and difficult pattern. if you customize it then people will make it way to easy for themselves. It would be much better if everyone had to do the same pattern of numbers as everyone else.
(thanks for who ever moved this to this area I see that is better off under this topic!)

Re: Handseals Idea
Well that would work if moves that do the same amount of damage have the SAME exact numbers, no matter what type of move it is...Then it would be fair I guess, But for some reason my hand-eye coordination sux when it comes to PC games.....So I lose either way
Re: Handseals Idea
Idea..
if the movement keys are wasd.
you can press and hold E to go into handseal mode, then change WASDQFZXCV into handseals.
Once you release E and if the combination is correct you will do a jutsu, and then the buttons will return to their normal state.

Re: Handseals Idea
In all that time someone can throw a full supply of kunai right at ur face....So ur dead. That should only be for the really uber strong moves. Like ameratsu, or going into cursed seal mode.
Re: Handseals Idea
E+W,F,X
Takes like 1 second to put in with practice.
Its as fast or slow as the player allows it to be.

Great idea. Maybe the system will allow you to just tap E (or Q or R) after, so that you can move to dodge attacks while inputting handseals. (and then movement keys = seal keys if you remap them)
That makes 12
Re: Handseals Idea
Well if your putting in handseals, and someone throws a kunai at you and it hits you then it stops you jutsu. That's why holding a key down and when doing it doesn't let you move makes it a challenge. Weaker jutsu will be simply key combinations ( which I think that using the keypad is still better, but that just me). To do the chidori(sp) it takes three hand seals. so if you had to hold the E button then press 1,2,4,5,8,9 it would allow you to perfrom the technique. Doing that is even easy and quick enough if you try it. So you have to be quick and fast at typing in your handseals, and if someone is quick enough to attack you while your doing it and you have to let go of the E button and it stops your move, then thats what happens. That is what will help to make this game a challenge. you shouldn't be able to dodge while your concentrating on doing the handsigns to perform the jutsu

( which I think that using the keypad is still better, but that just me)
Moving your hand off the mouse to put in a keypad combination means you cant aim your justsu with the mouse.

And that makes powerfull jutsu's which take a longer time to complete useless unless they are AOE jutsu (which apply to a wide range) ... so we should find someother way if u ask me, we can temporarly change the hotbar layout when u press a skill button, which makes the hotbar keys become seals and u have to press them, if u fail to do so in like 15secs, u fail and it goes back to skill tab or so ^^

Re: Handseals Idea
Good point, not all laptops have number pads, sorry i forgot, mine does so i guess I didn't think about those who didn't. Hmm well using the number strip could work too. hmm maybe having the handseals as icons on the screen would work, you just have to push the icons in the correct order... hmm. I only liked the number pad more because it would cause you to lift your hand off the mouse and type it in real fast which would be more of a challenge. Although someone mentioned about not being able to target your oppenent if you had to let go of the mouse, and I would have to say that you wouldn't use the jutsu until you released the E button which would give you time to get your hand back on the mouse.

yeah always could, i just think that punching a sequence of buttons or icon order would be more challenging cause you would have to stop fighting for a couple of seconds and enter handseals real fast. more realistic too.
